The family of WWII Veteran, SGT John D. Crane has requested the presence of the PGR at his services to be held on 24 July 2010 in Tulsa, OK.

A lifelong motorcyclist, John D. Crane Jr. rode for over 70 years. He bought his first Harley-Davidson ‘74’ when he was 18, for $35. Since that day he’s had many Harley’s, including one he “borrowed” in Italy while attached to the 45th Infantry. At the age of 89, John rode from Tulsa to Davenport, Iowa to Ray, Ohio and back again, on a Sportster. This past March, SGT Crane had switched to riding a Harley-Davidson Trike.

He passed away 16 July 2010 at the age of 91.

SGT Crane enlisted in the Army on 10 SEPT 1940 and served his country through it’s most difficult time in history: He participated in the Sicilian Campaign and Italian Campaign, earned European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbons, Good Conduct Ribbon, Battle Star for Sicilian Campaign, Anzio, Italy, Battle Star Italian Campaign and the Combat Infantry Badge. Serving nearly a year and a half overseas, he received his honorable discharge in JAN 1945.
