Hello, Brothers and Sisters--

I returned home late last night after traveling out-of-town, and received this tragic news about the latest addition to the "Butcher's Bill" our Motorcycling Community has been faced with this year.  Three innocent victims were MURDERED, in my opinion, by an irresponsible motorist who drove across the center line, violated their Right-Of-Way, and hit a group of motorcyclists head-on.  A fourth victim is being treated for severe injuries at OU Medical Center, the state's Trauma Unit.  You can read below the initial word I received as to the fatality wreck, followed by the news article.  I know all of us will take some time to remember the grieving families in our thoughts and prayers and reach out to them--Funeral Information is pending, and I will forward it as soon as I receive it.  Many thanks to those of you who sent me information on this outrageous tragedy over the weekend.  Once again, the media saw fit to mention whether or not the riders were wearing helmets, but you'll notice that there is ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION of ANY Citation being issued by Law Enforcement to the person who caused the wreck!  This might be due to "the cause of the crash wasn't determined", but it brings to mind the terrible injustices of the past involving our Riding Community, as when Flop, Bev and John got killed in much the same manner on Hwy. 9 eight years ago.  JUSTICE MUST be served--We MUST hold the Media and the Justice System accountable, both for more responsible reporting, and to effectively apply the Law to those who break it and hurt and kill our loved ones in the process!  I'll remind everyone that this is the type of wreck where Jaggers' Law applies, to increase penalties for negligent drivers who cause injuries and fatalities.  For now, please focus on supporting the families of these innocents, visiting the injured in-hospital, and securing Justice for those riders out for some enjoyable Motorcycling, who were touched by the hand of Evil.  Thanks for listening, take care of each other, and I'll see you on the Road.

With Love and Respect,

The Spokes of Hope Chapter, Christian Motorcyclist Association, in Duncan Oklahoma has had a terrible blow dealt to them.  They were out on their chapter dinner ride (Friday) Aug.
10, 2007 and the group was hit by a car. Here's what we know as of now. Jenny Day was killed at the scene, and her husband is in the OU Health Sciences Center in OKC, in critical condition. Another couple, Linda & Roger Gunter were hit and died on the scene.  John Nelson, the chapter president and his wife were hit, but he managed to keep his bike upright and they are as well as can be expected.  Larry and Sue Landtroop ran over some debris and tore his brand new trike up, but he and Sue are physically OK. The car that crossed the center line burned, and the Highway Patrol has the highway shut down trying to figure just what
happened.  No info on passenger(s) of the vehicle.  I will keep you
updated as I get more info.  Please pray for all involved.

RATLIFF CITY, Okla. -- A car drifted left of center along a Carter County highway Friday and slammed into four motorcycles, killing three people and leaving two others in critical condition, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Shannon Lowe, 39, of Duncan, was driving west on state Highway 7 just west of Ratliff City at about 3:45 p.m. Friday when her 1995 Nissan Altima crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the four motorcycles, the OHP reported.

Pronounced dead at the scene were: Betty Day, 57, of Terral; Roger Gunter, 59, of Ryan; and Linda Gunter, 57, of Ryan, who was a passenger on Roger Gunter's motorcycle.

Another motorcyclist, Frank Day, 64, of Terral, was admitted in critical condition to an Oklahoma City hospital. Lowe also was transported in critical condition.

A fourth motorcyclist and his passenger weren't injured in the collision, and a fifth motorcyclist was hit with flying debris but wasn't injured.

Both Roger and Linda Gunter were wearing helmets, the patrol said.
